For most, the discovery of Q Lazzarus came through the haunting track "Goodbye Horses". First appearing in Jonathan Demme’s 'Married to the Mob' (1988), the song reached cult status after its unforgettable use in 'The Silence of the Lambs' (1991). With its dreamlike atmosphere and mysterious vocals, the song left listeners captivated and curious about the artist behind it—Diane Luckey. A singular talent ahead of her time, Luckey remained largely unrecognized during her lifetime.

Now, alongside the documentary 'Goodbye Horses: The Many Lives of Q Lazzarus', Sacred Bones is releasing a career-spanning collection of her music. Recorded between 1985 and 1995, the album showcases her eclectic artistry, from eerie new wave to house-infused anthems and alt-rock gems. Beyond "Goodbye Horses", her chameleonic voice shines on a powerful cover of Talking Heads’ "Heaven" and a dubby, Grace Jones-esque take on "Summertime". Tracks like "My Mistake" and "Hellfire" highlight her brassy vocals over danceable beats, while "Don’t Let Go" recalls the bombastic pop of Cher. Songs like "Bang Bang" and "I See Your Eyes" reveal a rock sensibility that, in another era, could have made her an alternative icon. This long-overdue release offers a deeper look into an artist whose immense potential remained unrealized—until now.
