Description
After six years of silence, 'Silver Sash' marked the long-awaited return of Wovenhand, the project of David Eugene Edwards. Co-written entirely with Chuck French (Planes Mistaken For Stars), the album represents both a continuation and an evolution of Edwards’ haunting vision. Recorded in Denver with contributions from Jason Begin, the record took over four years to complete, reflecting the meticulous care behind its creation. The result is a powerful collection of songs that merge the mystical intensity of Wovenhand’s earlier work with a more direct, forceful energy.
Opening with the thunderous "Temple Timber," the album immediately establishes its urgency before galloping into the fierce momentum of "Acacia." The brooding "Duat Hawk" highlights Edwards’ commanding voice at its most evocative, while first single "Dead Dead Beat" surges forward with pounding drums and raw guitars. The nine tracks balance hypnotic atmospheres with muscular drive, culminating in the poignant closer "The Namesake," which French describes as “a jovial goodbye.” 'Silver Sash' is at once heavy and transcendent, a record that unites the calm mysticism of Wovenhand’s origins with the hard-edged power of their later years, cementing it as one of their most striking works.
