Description

Originally recorded in 1977 and released in 1979, Ghédalia Tazartès’ debut album, 'Diasporas', marked a surreal and unclassifiable entry into the French avant-garde. Born in Paris in 1947 to Judaeo-Spanish parents of Greek descent, Tazartès combined his Ladino heritage, vocal manipulation, and innovative use of tape loops to create haunting, atmospheric works that defied the academic rigidity of his peers.

Tazartès pioneered a method he called "impromuz," recording for hours and extracting moments of spontaneous brilliance. 'Diasporas' features his signature vocal incantations, poetic recitations, and experimental textures, blending folklore with the avant-garde. Reissued multiple times, most recently by Dais Records, the album has been remastered and restored to its original form, preserving its mystique over four decades later.
