Filthy, confrontational, and deliberately stripped down, 'The Way Of Death' captures The Wound at their most punishing. Released in 2019 through Donor Records, the 7" condenses the Leeds band’s hardcore-punk attack into three songs built from damaged guitar tones, rumbling bass, abrupt shifts, and a constant sense of physical pressure. Rather than chasing speed alone, the record leans heavily on breakdowns, repetition, and ugly, low-slung grooves, giving it a brutal, almost claustrophobic character.

"Misery" and "Methods Of Rest" share the A-side as a single extended sequence, moving between blunt-force riffs and slower, uglier sections before the title track takes over the B-side. "The Way Of Death" stretches the same vocabulary further, using repetition and crushing momentum rather than ornamentation. Maximum Rocknroll described the record as hardcore punk reduced to its most disgusting foundational elements, which is a pretty accurate summary of how direct and physical this release feels.
