Built around Ben Chasny’s self-devised Hexadic System, 'Hexadic' transforms composition into a process of controlled instability. Rather than relying on habitual chord progressions or familiar guitar patterns, the system uses combinations of cards to determine tonal fields, scales, and structural possibilities. Six Organs of Admittance then turn those restrictions into some of Chasny’s most abrasive music, favouring volume, distortion, fractured rhythms, and jagged electric guitar over the acoustic delicacy often associated with the project.

"The Ram" opens with a compact burst of tension before "Wax Chance" stretches the system into a heavier, more unstable form. "Maximum Hexadic" and "Sphere Path Code C" push toward outright noise-rock violence, while "Hesitant Grand Light" and "Future Verbs" leave greater space between guitar gestures. "Hollow River" moves with a slower, weightier pulse, and closing track "Guild" balances distortion with open, almost suspended passages. Across nine tracks, 'Hexadic' treats composition as a way of escaping instinct, using chance-derived structures not to produce abstraction for its own sake, but to generate a dark, physical and unpredictable form of experimental rock.
