Description
Emerging from Setúbal's underground music scene, Murro forged a distinctive sound that refused easy categorisation. On their second album, 'Misantropo', the band expanded upon their blend of hardcore, noise rock, and post-hardcore, delivering a record fuelled by frustration, social awareness, and emotional intensity. Rather than relying on straightforward aggression alone, the quartet balanced crushing riffs and abrasive textures with moments of tension, atmosphere, and unexpected melody, creating a sound that felt both confrontational and deeply immersive.
Across tracks such as "Estrábico", "Consequente", and "Fábrica", Murro channelled themes of alienation, exploitation, and resistance through dense walls of noise, urgent rhythms, and impassioned vocals. Their anti-authoritarian and anti-fascist convictions gave the album a powerful sense of purpose, while the band's adventurous songwriting pushed beyond traditional hardcore boundaries. The result was a record that felt raw and abrasive yet remarkably nuanced, capable of shifting between chaos and introspection without losing momentum. Fierce, challenging, and emotionally charged, 'Misantropo' stands as one of the most compelling releases to emerge from Portugal's contemporary heavy music landscape.
