Description
Bridging tradition and experimentation with remarkable elegance, Jerusalem In My Heart's 'Daqa'iq Tudaiq' expanded the project's unique dialogue between Arabic musical heritage and contemporary sound art. Led by composer and producer Radwan Ghazi Moumneh, the Montréal-Beirut collective crafted a deeply immersive work that moved seamlessly between orchestral grandeur, electronic manipulation, and emotive vocal performance. The album's first side realized a long-held ambition: a modern orchestral interpretation of a beloved Egyptian composition, performed by a 15-piece ensemble in Beirut. The result was both reverential and transformative, connecting past and present through richly layered arrangements.
The second half of 'Daqa'iq Tudaiq' ventured further into exploratory territory, where processed vocals, buzuk, electronics, and looping structures reimagined traditional forms through an avant-garde lens. Tracks such as "Bein Ithnein" and "Thahab, Mish Roujou', Thahab" balanced beauty and disorientation, while "Layali Al-Rast" and "Kol El 'Aalam O'youn" showcased Moumneh's ability to create emotionally resonant soundscapes from minimal elements. Throughout the album, Jerusalem In My Heart demonstrated a profound respect for cultural traditions while fearlessly reshaping them into something new. Mesmerizing and deeply evocative, 'Daqa'iq Tudaiq' stands as one of the project's most compelling artistic statements.
