Built around heartbreak, grief, and the difficult movement toward renewal, 'GET MEAN' finds Boy Harsher opening their sound without abandoning the tension that has always defined them. Jae Matthews and Augustus Muller frame the record as a meditation on love, loss, and survival, turning a painful personal chapter into something physical and strangely liberating. The familiar pulse of dark electronics remains, but brighter synths, guitar textures, and a stronger synth-pop presence give the album a wider emotional range than their earlier, more claustrophobic work.

"Ronny" introduces the record in restrained fashion before "Jeans", "Break Me", and "Tough Luck (When You Don't Call)" push toward more immediate, danceable territory. "Hard Beat" reconnects with the duo's darker club instincts, while "Ice Pick (Walk Away)" and "Pray 4 Me" balance cold electronics with increasingly exposed songwriting. The brief "Ivy's Spiral" interrupts the flow before the final stretch moves through "Falling" and "Bleed". 'GET MEAN' retains Boy Harsher's nocturnal intensity while allowing vulnerability, melody, and even flashes of brightness to reshape it.
