Description
Instead of settling into familiar territory by their fifth record, All Them Witches chose reinvention. After the expansive production of ‘Sleeping Through the War’, the Nashville band abandoned expectations entirely, retreating to a cabin in Kingston Springs to rebuild their sound from the ground up. With guitarist Ben McLeod overseeing the recording and Rob Schnapf handling the mix, the result is their most intimate and human-sounding album to date. Stripped of excess and rooted in raw, live energy, ‘ATW’ presents a band tapping directly into instinct—letting mood, space, and chemistry guide the shape of each song.
The addition of keyboardist and percussionist Jonathan Draper further expands the group’s palette, weaving new textures into their heavy psych blues foundation. Across the record, All Them Witches move with a looseness and confidence that reflects the isolation of the cabin setting—warm, unvarnished, and alive. Rather than chasing a formula, they lean into exploration, delivering a self-titled work that serves as both a reset and a redefinition. ‘ATW’ captures the band at a moment of quiet transformation, proving once again that their evolution is driven not by expectation, but by curiosity and spirit
