Rooted in reconnection and self-discovery, 'As Above, So Below' found Sampa the Great returning to Zambia and embracing the many layers of her identity. Spoken word passages in Bemba and the recurring presence of her alter ego Eve gave the record a conceptual depth, balancing introspection with celebration and cultural affirmation.

Across the album, Sampa the Great drew from hip hop, soul, jazz, and Zamrock-inspired textures to create a sound as varied as her journey. “Lane” and “Mask On” paired sharp lyricism with confident energy, while “Never Forget” and “Can I Live?” deepened the record’s connection to memory and ancestry. Collaborations with Denzel Curry, Joey Bada$$, Kojey Radical, Angélique Kidjo, and W.I.T.C.H. expanded its scope without diluting its focus.
