Description

Filth, speed, and uncompromising aggression sit at the core of Death Breath, and ‘Let It Stink’ exists as a deliberate rejection of modern polish. Led by Entombed and Nihilist founder Nicke Andersson, the project was conceived as a raw resurrection of death metal’s earliest impulses, where immediacy and violence mattered more than precision. Recorded without studio trickery, the EP thrives on savage riffs, pounding drums, and a punk-fuelled sense of urgency that recalls the genre’s underground beginnings.

Across seven tracks, Death Breath balances original material with ferocious covers of Bathory, G.B.H., and Discharge, collapsing death metal and hardcore punk into a single, rotting mass. The original songs hit fast and hard, driven by chainsaw guitars and relentless tempos, while the covers are reanimated with brutal intensity rather than reverence. Scott Carlson and Robert Pehrsson’s snarling vocal performances reinforce the EP’s hostile atmosphere, giving it a feral edge that feels both nostalgic and confrontational. ‘Let It Stink’ stands as a reminder that death metal’s power lies in decay, distortion, and defiance, offering a compact but devastating statement of intent.
