Description
'Harmbringer' is the first full-length statement from Ghent’s Black Haven, released in 2011 through Hypertension Records. Drawing from the metallic hardcore of Integrity, the urgency of Tragedy, and the heavier influence of Entombed, the album pushes the band into darker, more forceful territory. Mixed by Hein Devos and mastered by Alan Douches, it balances raw hardcore aggression with metallic riffing, slower sludge-weighted passages, and flashes of melody that prevent the record from becoming one-dimensional.
The album’s strength lies in that tension between speed and weight. "Lucifer", "The Beyond", and "Wolfen" establish the abrasive tone early, while the title track and "A Town that Dreaded Sundown" allow the songs to open into slower, more oppressive territory. "Lazarus", "Blood", and "Zwarte Vlaghe" continue that balance of rough hardcore drive and heavier atmosphere, giving 'Harmbringer' a broader character than a straightforward hardcore record. Across eleven concise tracks, Black Haven sound equally comfortable with blunt impact and darker, more exploratory arrangements.
