Recorded on borrowed gear, the album channels spoken word abstraction and experimental sound design, moving between fractured drum patterns, buzzing synths, and found sounds. Farrar’s plainspoken lyricism grapples with love, addiction, fatherhood, and the passage of time, echoing influences from Lou Reed to Rowland S. Howard while maintaining his own distinctive cadence.

Across its ten tracks, ‘Cleaning’ flows like a hall of shifting rooms: opener “Advance” sets a haunted tone that resurfaces in the resonant “Ovidian,” while trance-like interludes such as “Gravity Hill” and “Frogs” bend time with their minimal structures. “Exile” builds a fragile arrangement of piano and guitar into one of the collection’s most affecting pieces, while “Traveling Light From Afar” closes on a motorik pulse and candid self-reflection.
