Murky atmosphere, old-school riffing, and a constant sense of menace drive 'Temple Of The Abyss', the 2017 debut full-length from Vacivus. Recorded and mixed by Greg Chandler of Esoteric, the album channels classic US death metal through a darker, more cavernous approach, balancing guttural vocals, dense guitar work, and punishing rhythms with blackened tension and occasional slower, doom-weighted passages. Rather than chasing technical excess, the band focus on atmosphere and momentum, letting the riffs carry much of the record’s impact.

"Towards Infinite Chasms" and "Oubliette" establish the album’s suffocating tone early, while "Summoning Apophis" and "Cosmological Necroticism" push further into the record’s blackened side. "Black Flame Serpent" and "Filii Inferos" reinforce the balance between speed and brooding weight before the title track closes the album with one of its most expansive pieces. Across eight tracks, 'Temple Of The Abyss' places Vacivus firmly within the darker strain of modern death metal, drawing from the same murky tradition as Dead Congregation, Grave Miasma, and Cruciamentum without simply imitating them.
