Description
Built around a shared taste for psychedelia, repetition, and overwhelming low frequencies, 'Huata / Bitcho' brings together two different approaches to slow, immersive heaviness. Huata occupy the first side with "The Retaliator" and "Hercolubus", expanding the occult doom of 'Atavist of Mann' through psychedelic sludge, droning passages, and unusual arrangements coloured by organ, euphonium, and saxophone. "The Retaliator" stretches beyond fifteen minutes, allowing riffs and atmosphere to develop gradually before the shorter "Hercolubus" pushes the same ritualistic character into a more concentrated form.
The reverse side belongs entirely to Dutch band Bitcho, whose "10050 Cielo Drive" approaches the split from a harsher and more monotonous direction. Built around multiple bass guitars, distorted low frequencies, repetitive percussion, and incantatory vocals, the track moves between crawling sludge and Godflesh-like downtempo weight. Rather than simply pairing two similar bands, the split works through contrast: Huata lean toward psychedelic and ceremonial doom, while Bitcho turn repetition into something mechanical, oppressive, and hypnotic.
