Description
Continuing the lineage of Techno Animal, 'Wrecked' brought Zonal into a slower, heavier, and more corroded form of industrial bass pressure. Built by Justin Broadrick and Kevin Martin, the album fused dub weight, distorted beats, drone, noise, and low-end electronics into a monolithic sound world. With Moor Mother appearing across the first half, the record added spoken-word urgency and political tension to its already oppressive atmosphere, turning rhythm and texture into something vast, physical, and deeply unsettled.
Across twelve tracks, Zonal moved between dubwise hip-hop structures, industrial sound design, and slow-motion sonic collapse. Songs such as "Body of Wire", "System Error", and "Wrecked" balanced crushing bass with fractured rhythms and bleak futurist atmospheres, while the instrumental second half pushed further into dark ambient, drone, and heavy electronic abstraction. Dense, immersive, and deliberately disorienting, 'Wrecked' stands as a powerful continuation of Broadrick and Martin's shared obsession with beats, bass, noise, and extreme sound.
