Description
Mechanical rhythms, suffocating ambience, and slow-moving waves of distortion shape 'I See What I Became', the second album from Mirrors For Psychic Warfare. Scott Kelly and Sanford Parker push their collaboration deeper into industrial territory here, replacing much of the sprawling tension of their debut with shorter, denser pieces built from programmed percussion, murky synths, processed vocals, and heavily degraded guitar textures. The result feels less like conventional metal than a hostile electronic environment, where repetition and low-frequency pressure gradually become overwhelming.
"Animal Coffins" establishes that cold, machine-like pulse immediately, while "Tomb Puncher" moves through crawling industrial rhythms and "Body Ash" buries melody beneath layers of noise. "Thing of Knives" and "Crooked Teeth" increase the sense of claustrophobia through distorted beats and grinding repetition, before "Death Cart" stretches the atmosphere into one of the album’s bleakest passages. Across eight tracks, 'I See What I Became' draws from Godflesh, Skinny Puppy, and Foetus without simply reproducing them, turning industrial electronics, sludge-weighted heaviness, and psychological tension into something stark and relentlessly oppressive.
