Angels of Light
was formed in 1997 by Michael Gira after disbanding Swans. Marked by a more melodic yet equally intense approach, the project explored folk, country, and chamber influences while retaining Gira’s emotional weight. Collaborators included Dana Schechter, Kid Congo Powers, Thor Harris, and Akron/Family, shaping a body of work that remains deeply affecting and expansive.
