Originally composed as a live score to accompany Man Ray’s experimental silent films, the album captures the sound of dream states unfolding—feedback-drenched guitars, looping textures, and hazy synths echoing the artist’s playful abstractions and ghostly imagery.

Recorded live at the Centre Pompidou in Paris in 2023, the performance marks the culmination of eight years spent scoring Man Ray’s films across prestigious venues. The resulting compositions bridge the gap between cinema and sound art, pairing four restored films—'Étoile de mer', 'Emak bakia', 'Le Retour à la Raison', and 'Les Mystères du Château de Dé'—with immersive and visceral soundscapes. With 'Music for Man Ray', SQÜRL become the artist’s “backup band,” offering a reverent and distorted homage to a century of avant-garde innovation.
