Annie Besant

Annie Besant (1847–1933) was a British writer, social reformer, and prominent theosophist. She was a key figure in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, advocating for women's rights, education, and Indian self-rule.

Besant's involvement with the Theosophical Society led her to India, where she became deeply engaged in the country's struggle for independence, eventually becoming the president of the Indian National Congress. Her writings and activism left a lasting impact on both theosophy and Indian nationalism.
