Description

'The Origin of the Feces (Not Live at Brighton Beach)', the second album by Type O Negative, was recorded in the studio but layered with fake crowd noise, stage banter, and interruptions to mimic a chaotic live show. Originally released in 1992 with an infamously provocative cover featuring a close-up of an anus—allegedly belonging to frontman Peter Steele—it was later reissued with a black-and-green adaptation of the 1493 painting 'The Dance of Death'.

The album blends doom-laden riffs, gothic atmosphere, and the band’s trademark sardonic humor, reworking earlier material into extended, raw performances. The 1994 reissue adds a crushing cover of Black Sabbath’s "Paranoid", complementing the tongue-in-cheek yet heavy approach. 'The Origin of the Feces' remains a curious and unique entry in Type O Negative’s discography, capturing their irreverence and musical heft in equal measure.
