Scout Paré-Phillips gained recognition as a visual artist in Brooklyn, NY, but her creativity extends far beyond. She began her musical journey with the Baltimore-based post-punk/country act The Sterling Sisters. Her operatically trained soprano voice, paired with her skill on autoharp and baritone guitar, forms a unique blend of old-time folk storytelling and modern, atmospheric contrast.
Drawing inspiration from legends like Sibylle Baier and Leonard Cohen, as well as the dark intensity of Roy Orbison, Rowland S. Howard, and Diamanda Galás, Scout Paré-Phillips crafted her debut album, 'Heed the Call'. The record features crashing crescendos of guitar and autoharp, with contributions from Emil Bognar-Nasdor (Dawn of Humans, Røsenkopf). Her deeply emotional torch songs redefine the folk singer archetype, weaving a poignant tale of love, separation, and reunion.
