Kali Malone 'All Life Long'
Kali Malone’s anticipated album 'All Life Long' is a collection of compositions for pipe organ, choir, and brass quintet, created from 2020 to 2023. The album features performances by Macadam Ensemble, conducted by Etienne Ferschaud, and Anima Brass, recorded at The Bunker Studio. Organ pieces are performed by Malone and Stephen O’Malley on historically significant organs at Église Saint-François in Lausanne, Orgelpark in Amsterdam, and Malmö Konstmuseum in Sweden.
The album showcases Malone’s first organ compositions since her breakthrough album 'The Sacrificial Code' and includes interrelated pieces for voice and brass. Over twelve tracks, Malone explores harmonic themes that recur in altered forms and different instrumentations, creating a feeling of the familiar rendered uncanny. Her work contrasts mechanical processes with expressive qualities of human breath, introducing lyricism and the beauty of human imperfection. 'All Life Long' is an artistic translation of the indescribable, combining liturgical gravitas with a deep engagement in the passage of time and human experience.
