Drab Majesty 'Unarian Dances'
Drab Majesty's first release was the 2012 cassette 'Unarian Dances', limited to 100 copies. Tracks later appeared as bonus cuts on 'Completely Careless'. Now, along with the 'Unknown to the I' 12”, these songs are finally on 45 RPM vinyl, bringing all early Drab Majesty material from the 'Careless' era (2012–2015) to vinyl. Mastered by Josh Bonati with new packaging by Nathaniel Young, this collection preserves the project's early work.
Drab Majesty is the project of Deb DeMure, the androgynous alter ego of L.A. musician Andrew Clinco and partner Mona D. Fusing reverb-drenched guitars, synth bass, and drum machine beats, the project blends ’80s New Wave with a futuristic edge. DeMure, a multi-instrumentalist, claims to channel the music rather than compose it. On stage, the towering 6’4” figure, harlequin aesthetic, and haunting presence contrast with the ethereal sound, balancing the drab and the divine.
