Ferocious, abrasive, and steeped in horror cinema, 'John Carpenter' redux sees Besta return to their 2014 tribute to legendary filmmaker John Carpenter with renewed force. Reworked, remixed, and remastered for its 2025 edition, with newly recorded vocals from Paulo Rui, the album sharpens the original’s collision of grindcore violence, hardcore urgency, and crust-driven aggression. Each song draws its title from Carpenter’s filmography, transforming cult horror and dystopian imagery into short, explosive bursts of noise, speed, and confrontation.

"O Regresso do Mal" opens unusually slowly, building through a doomy, oppressive atmosphere before the record erupts into the rapid-fire assault of "Estrela Negra", "Assalto à 13ª Esquadra", and "Cidade dos Malditos". "Nova Iorque 1997" compresses the attack into seconds, while "Eles Vivem" and "A Bíblia de Satanás" introduce heavier grooves and flashes of melody beneath the chaos. The redux vinyl expands the concept further by pairing the refreshed 2025 recordings with the original version and additional material, offering both perspectives on one of Besta’s most distinctive releases.
