PELICAN 'Ephemeral'

Here's a brand new EP from Chicago heavy rockers Pelican on Southern Lord. Recorded by Chris Common, drummer in These Arms Are Snakes, this three-piece 12" truly worships at the hallowed font of riff, even roping in Earth mother Dylan Carlson for a little assistance on a cover of 'The Geometry Of Murder' - a song written by the man himself. It slots in nicely alongside the other hard-hitting instrumentals here, adding a little extra sludge to the line-up. The opening, side-long cut 'Embedding The Moss' is suitably Wagnerian without going too over the top, but for all-out metal brilliance the title track with its galloping, palm-muted riffology rates as the outstanding cut.
