The bleak, foreboding landscape of North Yorkshire surrounds Keeley Forsyth's third LP, 'The Hollow'. The moors visible from her studio window inform music that feels windswept, rain-soaked, and low-lit. The title refers to an abandoned mining shaft—symbolic of the past haunting the present. Forsyth’s elemental voice is central, transforming vulnerability into cathartic strength. Collaborating with producer Ross Downes, she layers sacred music, dark ambient, and post-classical influences, creating soundscapes that are both haunting and transformative.

Inspired by Mihály Vig's score for The Turin Horse, Forsyth reimagines everyday life as a mythical narrative of survival and hope. In "A Shift", she reframes Mal Finch’s protest song "We Are Women, We Are Strong"—originally sung during the ’80s miners' strikes—as a testament to creative struggle. This album captures an artist unafraid to expose herself fully, balancing raw emotion and refined musical exploration.
