Avesso 'Desassossego'

'Desassossego', the debut album from Portuguese band Avesso, is a profound exploration of the human condition through an experimental rock lens. Born from an artistic residency in 2022, the quartet—comprising Diogo Leite (drums), Dani Valente (guitar), Vitor Hugo (guitar/vocals), and Paulo Rui (bass/vocals)—crafted 14 tracks that traverse the spectrum of human emotion. Their music seamlessly blends diverse influences, resulting in a sound that is both unpredictable and deeply emotive.

The album's lyrics, delivered in Portuguese, draw from the works of Fernando Pessoa and his heteronyms, as well as reinterpreted Renaissance dramaturgy and original writings by the vocalists. This rich literary foundation adds depth to tracks like "se eu pudesse trincar a vida toda" and "a existência dos homens", where philosophical musings intertwine with experimental melodies and dissonances.
