'Domus Mysterium' captures Slægt at the point where their black metal roots fully collide with traditional heavy metal. Released in 2017 through Ván Records, the album expands on the direction of 'Beautiful and Damned', replacing much of the raw primitivism of their earliest work with intricate guitar harmonies, extended instrumental passages, and a far stronger classic-metal sensibility. The vocals remain harsh and unmistakably blackened, but the riffs often lean toward NWOBHM, early heavy metal, and melodic extreme metal, giving the record an unusual balance of aggression and elegance.

That contrast drives the album’s identity. "I Smell Blood" and "Egovore" push the heavy-metal side forward through sharp leads and memorable riffing, while "Remember it's a Nightmare" keeps more of the band’s blackened urgency intact. "The Tower" and the closing "Domus Mysterium" stretch into longer, more elaborate structures without losing the record’s riff-first focus. Rather than abandoning black metal, Slægt reshape it through classic heavy-metal language, creating a record that feels both rooted in the underground and deliberately broader in scope.
