Screamo
is an intense offshoot of emo and post-hardcore that emerged in the 1990s, characterized by chaotic instrumentation, emotional intensity, and screamed vocals. Originating with bands like Saetia and Orchid, it emphasized raw, cathartic expression over mainstream appeal. Later, it evolved into different waves, influencing heavier post-hardcore and metalcore acts while retaining its underground roots and DIY ethos.
