Description
Fueled by rage, urgency, and confrontation, ‘Exiled’ marked a decisive escalation in Bad Breeding’s trajectory. As the band’s third album, it delivered 12 tracks across a taut 33-minute runtime, shaped by frustration with the political and social climate of the UK. The record channelled pressure, containment, and disillusionment into a sound that refused compromise or relief. Lyrics landed as direct, forceful statements, driven by the need to expose and rupture rather than explain. Following earlier releases issued independently and through La Vida Es Un Mus, ‘Exiled’ captured a moment where intensity outweighed refinement and immediacy became essential.
Sonically, the album unfolded as a feral surge of tumbling hardcore energy. Blazing guitars collided in dense, abrasive clusters while basslines churned relentlessly beneath the surface. Drums drove everything forward with impatient force, favouring attack over restraint and locking the songs into a constant state of propulsion. Tracks felt perpetually on the edge of collapse yet remained tightly focused, propelled by repetition, pressure, and sheer physical momentum. There was little room to breathe, only fleeting moments of clarity before being dragged back into the maelstrom. Brutal and uncompromising, ‘Exiled’ embodied the idea that repression breeds eruption, capturing Bad Breeding at their most volatile and confrontational.
