Description
On 'Here There and Nowhere', Heaven’s Club blends introspective indie rock, dream pop and hazy psychedelia. Shiv Mehra began the Oakland project during downtime from touring with Deafheaven, later expanding it into a six-piece with Dan Tracy, Nadia Kury, Chris Natividad, Ross Peacock and Luis Mayorga. Across nine songs, chiming guitars, drifting vocals and progressive arrangements move between punchy urgency and distant atmosphere. The sound feels intimate yet restless, with melodic warmth and a lingering sense of longing as memory and fantasy blur.
Recorded at Santo Studios in Oakland, the album was shaped by producer and engineer Andrew Oswald, whose layered textures bring depth to Mehra’s vision. Its songs inhabit the uncertain space between love, memory and the desire for peace, giving the record a reflective mood even when the guitars gather force. From the suspended pull of “Dreamboat” and “Alone in Dresden” to the folk-tinged close of “Strange Times,” Heaven’s Club shifts freely across styles while staying focused on atmosphere and feeling. 'Here There and Nowhere' is an emotionally searching listen for fans of melodic indie rock, expansive dream pop and guitar music with blurred edges.
