'Committed to the Ground' captures Torch Runner before the tighter focus of 'Endless Nothing', but the essential ingredients are already fully formed. Released in 2012, the album tears through twelve tracks of grindcore, hardcore, and crust with a raw, abrasive production and a constant sense of collapse. Most songs strike quickly and disappear before the impact has settled, but the band repeatedly interrupt that speed with slower, heavier passages that bring a blunt metallic weight into the record without turning it into straightforward metalcore.

The short blasts of "Current", "Incendiary", "Rede", and "Pulpit Plague" keep the pressure immediate, while "Canon Cast" and "Harrow" allow more groove and rhythmic variation to surface. Two longer pieces change the scale completely: the title track stretches beyond four minutes into a slower, oppressive crawl, and "The Holy Are The Broken" uses the same extra space to build tension rather than simply accelerate. "Vestige" closes the album with another expanded statement, giving the record a stronger sense of shape than its violent first impression suggests. 'Committed to the Ground' already shows Torch Runner understanding that speed hits harder when surrounded by weight, feedback, and sudden drops in momentum.
