A playlist for when dancing feels like too much effort — curated by Sergio Albert.
Madrid-based photographer, musician, and longtime acquaintance Sergio Albert digs deep into the shadows with his contribution to the Mondo Negro playlist series. We first crossed paths years ago booking shows, only to reconnect by chance at Amplifest—because the world really is that small.
Sergio describes this mix as:
A personal trip through the darker corners I'm drawn to—heavy atmospheres, sometimes extreme, sometimes classic, always carrying a slow-burning tension.
From the spectral pulse of Low, the bleak catharsis of dälek, to the crushing mass of Sumac & Moor Mother, this is music that doesn’t seek comfort, nor punishment—it simply inhabits a liminal, altered space.
Some tracks feel like they echo from an empty club at 4 A.M., others from a dead-end highway where the only thing moving is your mind. Expect gritty textures, deep pulses, and ghostly guitars—no easy hits, no euphoric relief, just a beautifully curated ritual of slow, dark sounds. Featuring Voivod, Chat Pile, Oranssi Pazuzu, Goblin, Francis Bebey, Belkıs Ünlüses, and more.
Or, as Sergio puts it best:
A bunch of moody tracks for when dancing feels like too much effort. No hype, just lost hits and slow, dark sounds dragging their feet.
